Playing in the Dirt

Morning time!

Many friends are signing in with other names. This means we have made great progress in writing skills, and I'm not sure where we are identity-wise.

We got out the overhead today, and friends traced images on large paper - starting with our dragon. Then, they took the pictures down and added more detail.

Then, it was Spanish time!

We are learning articles of clothing.

Outdoors, we had snack, and added water to the pond.

There is lots of imaginative play going on outdoors. Here are two sleeping cats on the windowsill.

Much cooking and baking is also happening.

We headed off for a walk. First, we stopped to check on our garden. Our pansies are really blooming, and the beans are getting quite big.

We stopped at one of our favorite dirt spots. We needed some dirt for a project, and friends like to make designs here, because the dirt is especially soft.

We checked on our dragon, while we were there.

We also taught friends how to play tetherball. They have a growing interest in games with rules, and this one also challenges their coordination.

Making art.

Bringing back the dirt. We also stopped off in the Big Kids' Playground - many friends are working on the very high monkey bars!

In the classroom, we found a dead bug. Friends went to get magnifying glasses for a closer look.

We started to clean the rocks and grass out of our dirt.

Then, it was library time!

Doris read us a Charlie and Lola book that we read awhile back, I Am Absolutely Too Small for School. Doris led us in a great discussion about how Lola was feeling, and what changed her mind about school.

Then, she read us a Charlie and Lola book that we've never seen, about Lola's first sleepover. After, we talked about how Lola was feeling in each book, and compared the two stories. The Catbirds are really getting to be experts at thinking about the stories we read.

Then, we got new books!

Back in the room, we mixed our dirt with some other ingredients - we LOVE mixing ingredients.

Tomorrow, we'll test out our results.

We had time for a little building, before it was time for lunch.

We got the vacuum out to clean up some sunflower seeds that spilled.

After lunch, we had another story.

And some Catbirds tried to escape The Hug-erator!
