Invisible Water Beads

The morning began with sharing books

Cooking in style...

Connectors and blocks

The Catbirds completed TWO one-hundred-piece puzzles before the day was over!

Silliness outside and much playing in the pond

Then we headed to the music room with the Owls for a Spring Concert rehearsal. Spoiler Alert: we practiced the Mexican Hat Dance!

And we showed the Owls our new favorite video, Sesame Street's "Stronger"

Back in the room, we reconvened and headed outside.

After a story, we brought out the vase of water from yesterday, in which we put tiny hard spheres. The little balls appeared to have dissolved. But then...

Each friend took a turn to silently put their hand into the water. This was a challenge in itself: to not say a word as they felt seemed like magic...

We couldn't believe it, but we could feel lots of squishy beads in the water. They were completely invisible!

Many good observations were made:

"They're growing just like us!"

"They're like bubbles!"

"They're slimy and not hard anymore!"

Each Catbird got to hold a water bead in their hands. We decided that we will fill the sandbox with these magical invisible beads.

Then it was time for Choice Time...

We did some rock art.
This was inspired by a book we have on Andy Goldsworthy, which the Catbirds refer to as "the Magic Forest book."

Puzzles and Bey Blades...

Rubber bands and Hammer Art, too.
