Making New Friends

There was an air pump in the room this morning, which turned on all kinds of imaginary play.

Friends were inflated, strange sounds were made and, at one point it became a "puppy groomer super-dooper hair dryer".

We made some new books.

And there were many puppies in the room.

Lots of building.

Then, we were invited to the kindergarten room to learn how they do their Moments of Silence.

Raji explained how they use a special bell, and then the kindergartners told us why they have moments of silence and how it makes them feel peaceful.

Then, Raji got out his guitar and we sang a song. We also taught them the song that we sing after our moments of silence AND we showed them how to sing it with monster voices. They were impressed.

Raji brought out a strange plant, that turned out to be brussel sprouts and we all examined it. Then, we got taste it, if we wanted.

Next, the kindergartners and the Catbirds paired up. Some Catbirds had brought their Family books to show our new friends, and some kindergartners showed friends their room.

We headed back for snack and more building.

Stickman built a stage.

We brought out a new timer, and friends used it to take turns with the air pump.

We found a cricket.

We read the book, Oh No!, out on the stage. Friends had their own parts, and we talked some about exclamation points.

They were particularly good at playing the part of the tiger.

At Morning Meeting, Stickman taught us a new song, on the stage.

Here it is on video:

At friends request, Light and Shadows were opened.

As well as stencil art.

There were a number of puppet shows going on as well.

We added colored geometric shapes to the light, and friends found ways to make stripes.

At rest time, we finished our chapter book, My Father's Dragon. Friends really enjoyed this story, and they have many ideas about our next book.
