Leaves Bigger Than Our Heads!

We now have TWO Bilibos, for twice the fun (thanks to a Catbird donation).

The Catbirds have been very interested in the bottles of beads, so today, we poured them all in big bins for a new sensory motor activity. Friends loved the sound and feel of the beads, as well as hunting through them to find extra-special jewels and letters.

At Snack Time, we had oranges, bananas, crackers, cheese and an extra surprise - Roasted Seaweed! A friend brought some in her lunch last week, and some of the Catbirds were curious about what it tasted like. Many friends gave it a try and a few really liked it. Everyone was intrigued by the fact that it grows in the ocean!

After we were fortified with growing food, we headed out on an early adventure - so we could beat the rain.

We were in search of fresh acorns.

A stop at the Puddle Tree, which did have puddles in it today.

Then, friends started to find these ginormous leaves!

Leaves bigger than our heads!

In addition to gathering fresh acorns, we stopped for a little tree climbing.

Next, we headed over to the meetinghouse. This is where Meeting for Worship happens on Wednesdays, and we are working towards joining the Lower School kids in a few weeks.

We went inside and found seats, and Carol told friends a little bit about the place - including the fact that, when it was first built, people came to meeting in carriages and on horseback!

We talked a bit about Meeting for Worship, and how friends are still and silent, until they feel as though they have something to share with their friends. Sometimes, this might be something we are grateful for.

Many friends stood up to talk about something that makes them happy. We practiced listening to our friends words, and then waiting for a bit before someone else spoke. The Catbirds did great!

We stopped off in the John Barnes room and looked at the display of clothing that Quakers use to wear a long time ago.

On our way back, we took a singing break in the hallway. We sang one of our favorites (Open,Shut Them), several times - because it makes us laugh, and we learned a new song.

Back in our room, we gathered for Morning Meeting, where Carol and Amy did a puppet show rendition of "The Little Red Hen." (No pictures, as we were both occupied). Choice Time was art and

Moon Sand!

Friends also continued telling stories with the puppets.
