Community

First thing in the morning is one of my favorite times of day in the Catbird room. Friends are full of energy and happy to start their day. They greet each friend who enters the room and are sincerely happy to see one another. When any friend is absent, the Catbirds take some time to express how much they are missed. Family members are part of the morning, too. The Catbirds see the parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles as part of our community, and do not hesitate to ask them for help or to show them a new discovery.

After our morning time together, we headed off to assembly - where we seem to having standing reservations in the front row seats (I am not sure how this happened, but we are not questioning our luck).

Assembly began with a favorite song from last year: Say Hello, and How Are You, which thrilled many of the Catbirds. The new Catbirds were quick to catch on to the lyrics and dance moves.

The 2nd Graders did a presentation on their field trip. They learned about bird conservation, and got to help measure and band birds and were taught how to safely hold and release the captured birds.

The kindergartners sang us a song, and we sang the Assembly song.

After an official weather check, (where everyone runs to the fence and back, and then decides whether we need coats and/or raincoats), we headed outside.

I think this may be a Catbird photo, but clearly Amy is contemplating the meaning of life.

We washed up and got ready for a special snack.

It was a Catbird birthday!

We sang Happy Birthday, and enjoyed a sweet treat with our fruit.

This is us singing one of our favorite silly songs.

As we gathered for Morning Meeting, we began with a moment of silence. Then it was time to act out, The Chair Where Bear Sits.

Everyone had a part.

This is the Dad, who trips with a roar.

And the cat, who streaks out the door.

The tray that hook on the chair...

the bowl that sits on the tray...

...the oatmeal, milky and warm...

...the juice that spills on the floor...

...the spoon of the newest born...

...the dog who wakes from his snore...

Well, you get the idea.

It got pretty silly.

But we had fun.

Then it was Choice Time.

We brought the magnatiles to the table, so that we could work on our building book.

Friends described what they were doing, as the built.

Others worked on art.

And still others re-enacted our show.

Other friends played instruments, so there was music throughout our activities.

On Tuesday, we have Art at 8:30!

Four days is a long time, we are going to miss them.
Hope you all have a nice long weekend!
