Valentine's Day!

The Catbirds began their morning with - you guessed it, Journaling!!

For snack, we had a Valentine's Day celebration that consisted of a lot of cupcakes, bananas, blueberries, muffins, bagels (with many different types of spreads), strawberries and much much more. Once we ate as much as we possibly could, we decided that it would be a good idea to save the rest of our goodies for snack tomorrow.

During snack Mike and Radji came in to play some music with Carol. They made up a song about the Catbirds and Valentine's Day. Friends were very impressed and gave a standing ovation.

Before heading outside, we did a weather check. This is where we open the door to our classroom and friends feel what the weather is like and decide what they should wear when we go out. The Catbirds decided that it would be a good idea to wear jackets (zipped), gloves and hats! But once outside, they realized the ground was covered in snow, so we quickly headed back inside to put our boots on!

When we were all bundled and booted up, friends helped each other clear the snow off the benches while other friends built snow people on the stage.

One friend even found a stick that look like deer antlers.

Back inside, we had Morning Meeting, a 'Moment of Food Eating Noises,' and finally a Moment of Silence. Friends also sang Make New Friends in a teeny tiny bug voice.

Carol read us one of our favorite books called Oh No!. After the story, Carol showed us a box that she got in the mail. Some friends made guesses about what they thought may be in the box. Some friends thought - or hoped - it was a dog. But we explained that a dog would need air holes in the box to breathe, and this box did not have any.

After a drum roll, the contents of the box were revealed! It was new monster puppets for our classroom! Friends took turns passing and playing with the puppets.

To finish up our morning, we had Choice Time. Friends choices were the Water Table, Pretend Play (which had our new monster puppets), Letter Writing and plants.
