Lots to Do

Picture of the Day

In the freezer downstairs, we have another batch of frozen ice balls. so, our current question is, "What should we do with our ice balls?" This is a more complicated kind of question, so friends are giving it serious thought.
The final votes are in for the question, "Is Spike a monster?" and it was a very close one. With 100% participation, 7 Catbirds answered 'Yes,' and 6 answered 'No.' In a democracy, this would mean that Spike would be declared a monster. In a Quaker school, it means that we are a long way from consensus.

We had a busy beginning, which culminated in joining the Owls out in the commons for some music playing. We had a variety of instruments, and we sang soft and loud and medium and like dogs, cats, chickens, cows and cowboys. Lots of friends got to share their ideas about how we could sing and play.

After snack, we got bundled up and headed out to play in the snow. We found a lot of ice around that we put to good use.

At Morning Meeting, we had a Moment of Crying and then a Moment of Laughing, before we had our Moment of Silence.

We read a new Mo Willems (our current favorite author) book, and everyone had a chance to give their opinion of the story. We are spending some time thinking and talking about books after we have finished reading as a way to extend our enjoyment of stories as well as stretch our comprehension.

We also introduced some new elements for Choice Time. New foods for the kitchen area were greeted with great excitement. We also set up the overhead projector to shine on the easel, along with a number of stencils. There were also magnetic pattern blocks on the puzzle table as a new activity, and the ever favorite water table. Other choices included flubber and, as always, books.
