Ice Ball Fun!

Today we had a jam packed day that started with Music with Jason. Jason had large drums out for us to play. He taught us a beat to play while he sang along. Once the song was over, we all stood up and moved to a different drum. Some friends noticed that their drums made louder noises while other drums were shorter but bigger around.

Next, we replaced our drums with shaker eggs. Jason read us a book called Jazzmatazz, but before he began, he gave us a special role which was to help him say the "Doo-dat, diddy-dat, doo" partThe Catbirds gave this book two thumbs ups!

We then said our Goodbye's and Thank You's to Jason and headed to see our friend Chris from the cafeteria. When we were in the cafeteria, we got the rest of our ice balls and thanked Chris for letting us use the freezer. During the last few days, friends have been answering the question: "What do you want to do with your ice ball?" Most friends said that they would like to go outside and throw their ice balls, and some others said that they would like to smash it on the ground. So we did just that! We went back to our classroom and bundled up in out jackets, gloves, and hats and headed outside with our ice balls!

Some friends ran right out and threw their ice and watched it shatter on the ground.

Some friends hid their ice balls around the outdoor classrooms.

Other friends buried the pieces in the sandbox.

Friends also figured out how to build a slide in the building center where they could slide their ice balls down. This was really tricky because sometimes the ice ball fell off the wood before it got to the bottom.

Once all the ice balls were broken, friends built an obstacle course for themselves.

At Morning Meeting, Danielle read us a book called, Do You Know Which One Will Grow? Some Catbirds liked this book while others were not that impressed!

At Choice Time today, friends were able to choose between the Pretend Play, which had the new foods, the Water Table, which had colorful water and lots of things to scoop and pour with, puzzles, and the easel.
