Playing with Lots of Animals on the Stump*

*Blog title by Tori

We discovered today, that our boxes make a very good platform, that is quite good to play on!

Friends also discovered a gap in the back of our shelf, through which a number of toys had fallen.

With a variety of tools, we tried hard to get them out - with no luck.

We did many things before Snack. Then it was time for Morning Meeting.

We had a Moment of Loudness and a Moment of Silence. Then Danielle read, Will You Be My Friend? by Eric Carle.

We decided to read on our bellies, so that friends could help figure out all of the animals.

Friends had helped decide what they wanted to do for Choice Time (In general, friends are starting to take much more active roles in organizing our days - a sign of how the Catbirds have grown.) Friends could pick between: Watercolors, Cars, Dramatic Play, The Rice table and Books (partway through, Gwen came in for library time, and read books to friend).

Painting was a a special activity - we used frozen watercolors that gradually melted as friends moved them around their papers.

The Rice Table was also a popular choice, as was Dramatic Play in the kitchen. We have a new food processor that friends are enjoying (Note: if you have any small appliances that are not working, we will take them. The food processor is one that broke, so I simply cut off the cord, took out the sharp bits and brought it in!)

After Choice Time, we headed outside into what was a beautiful day.

Friends were very busy, and were particularly interested in playing with the animals that have been added to the outdoor area.
