Flubbery Friday

Picture of the Day

After journal time,

we invented some new games around the room.

Friends also made some more flubber,

and discovered a new dress up item.

We headed outside. It was COLD! So cold, in fact, that we found a surprise on the pond...ICE!
Friends investigated. They took some pieces out, poked holes in it with sticks, looked through it,

and even stomped on it with wild animals. Then, we had to figure out how to get our hands warm again.

We told some stories with music, played hide and seek and chase.

Inside, we had snack and then Morning Meeting. We had a Moment of Animal Noises, and then a Moment of Silence. We learned a new song called, Good Morning, that friends enjoyed. Then, we talked about making some ice of our own, and what we would need. We decided to go find Chris, the chef in charge of the kitchen, to ask whether he had a some freezer space we could use.

We found him in the kitchen, and he said he had just the spot for us.

He took us through the kitchen, where we stopped to say hello to our friend, the other Carol.

We got to see where they make the pizza and wash the dishes...and we walked past a mountain of cookies!

Chris showed us to the freezer. It was full of ice cream! He said he would move it to another spot, so that we could have the whole freezer, and then he gave us the key.

Then we were off again.

We stopped to look at the new art in the auditorium lobby.

Then we went to visit our friend, Nancy. We gave her hugs and sang her a song.

On the way back, we looked at the art and photos on the walls.

When we returned, it was Choice Time.

We added bubble to our water table, so that we could scrub our animals.

Doctors were seeing patients.

Books were read.

And the flubber came out.

Friends experimented with it - noticing that they could put different imprints in it, and then watch them slowly disappear.

We put some of the new flubber in our hanging colander to see what would happen.*

Ever so slowly, it began to ooze.

We left it there to watch over lunch.
*Flubber is very cool stuff. You may find traces or globs of it on your child's clothing. It dissolves in vinegar and it is made with washable school glue, so it does come out in the wash.
