Rainy days make great mud pies!

The Catbirds morning began with journaling, beading and drawing with the no longer broken white crayons! The Catbirds were very pleased to learn that someone changed the batteries in white crayons; others thought that the white was working because the paper was hanging on a magical board (the easel).

Next, we had Morning Meeting and Moment of Silence. Right after our Moment of Silence, the Owls came into our room and asked us if we would like to join them in stomping in mud puddles! It sounded like such a "hoot" that we could not resist. So we quickly put on our boots and raincoats and headed out!

Today was a great day for digging and playing in the mud kitchen. Friends made delicious mud turkey, mud cake, and mud sandwiches. But beware, some friends found worms in their delicious baked goods.

After we got all cleaned off, we came in and read a story. Before we started reading, we talked about the story of The Three Bears. Friends named the different characters in the story, Pappa Bear, Momma Bear, Baby Bear and Goldilocks. Danielle told us to keep this story in mind as she read a story called Beware of the Bears. In this story, the Three Bears went to Goldilocks house and ate her cereal, slept in her bed and took a bath in her bathroom. So when Goldilocks returned, the bears jumped out to surprise her, but in the end, the beds they slept in and the the cereal they ate and the bathroom they used was not hers! It was the BIG BAD WOLF's, and he was not happy! Once the book was over friends, gave a thumbs up if they enjoyed the story, a thumbs down it they did not like it orthumbs in the middle if they sort of liked it! We are pleased to say that Beware of the Bears received 13 thumbs up!

For Choice Time, friends could choose to decorate telescopes (paper towel rolls), play with the moon sand or with the trucks, trains and cars.

To finish up our morning, we went on an animal adventure. We left our classroom looking like Catbirds and quickly turned into monkeys climbing a tree.

Then, we became snakes slithering and egg-rolls rolling down a steep hill in the middle of a forest.

...Kangaroos bouncing to get away from the slithering snakes.

We then became many different color butterflies flying in the air.

Lastly we ended our adventure as sharks, octopi  and the scariest one of all - jellyfish that attacked Danielle with hugs!

Once we got back to the classroom, we became Catbirds again and had a great lunch!
