Getting Back in the Swing

It felt like we had been apart for a long time, but the Catbirds were eager to get back into their routine. So, we journaled...

..and got out some of our favorite toys. While we played, we talked about our time away. Friends talked about all of the fun things they had done while they were home.

We got the letter beads out, and some friends worked on spelling their names and other words, while others enjoyed simply beading.

As always, the Catbirds looked at many books, and some were fishing for letters with a magnetic pole.

After clean up, we had a dance party.

Then it was time for Morning Meeting. We had our Moment of Silence and some songs.

We read, Giggle, Giggle, Quack and talked some more about the hurricane. With the exception of having seen some trees down and some nervous pets at home, friends seemed mostly unfazed by the "Frankenstorm,"

Then, we made plans for the rest of the morning. First, we would be having a special snack, because one of our friends turned 3 over the weekend! Then we would head outside for a bit.

We sang "Happy Birthday", and our friend blew out her candle. We had pumpkin cupcakes and they were delicious!

Outside, we played a very energetic game of Chase Danielle (or Follow Danielle?), and the Catbirds raced over, around, under and through.

Then we chased Carol onto the stage, where we stopped for a song and a dance.

Back inside, we built with blocks and engaged in some sensory play with shaving cream. Friends used the gloppy stuff to squish and wipe and write and draw in.

Before we knew it, it was time to clean up for lunch. We were happy to be back together again, and almost all of our friends fell asleep quickly today.
