A Lovely Way to Start the Week

It was just a great day. All of the Catbirds were happy to be together, and they were being what we like to call "friend-ish" with one another. We were excited to see Marty outside with a whole bunch of builders and lots of tools.

Many friends were interested in playing with the chain links: counting them, sorting them and putting them together in all kinds of configurations.

We went out to have our morning consult with Marty, who told us that the builders would be putting together the floor today and tomorrow. Then, he gave us some more plans to look at inside.

We had our Moment of Silence...

...then we looked at the drawings. Friends were interested in the fact that these drawings had people in them. These, they decided, were families, come to play on he new structure.

Then, we sang some of our favorite songs.

After snack, we got out some very special blocks. They are shaped much like the lumber that the builders are using. We brought our tables over near the windows, so that we could see the building going on outside, and we made buildings of our own.

Friends had lots of questions while they built, about how to get things to stay up or make them into the shapes they wanted.

After we put our building materials away, we headed outside, where we tried building with some other kinds of materials.

Then, we played a very fun and funny game of Hide-and-Seek.

Then, of course, we had to roll down the hill.

Katy took this picture.

After some more sharing and friendishness, we came inside for a story and got ready for lunch. Mealtime has increasingly become a time when friends talk with one another about the day and things that they do away from school, as well as make one another laugh. It is one of my favorite times of day.  It was a wonderful beginning to what I hope will be a wonderful week!
