A Many Books Day

A lovely journal morning, with several visitors on hand to help out.

We read lots of books today.

Rode an unruly horse.

Worked on boxes.

And patterns.

And music.

At Morning Meeting, we read a new counting book, Ten Little Ladybugs, and then talked about Choice Time. Friends could go to the Art area for a sensory motor activity (shaving cream and cornstarch, a whole new texture), or use the rice table, or go to the book area, where Gwen the librarian was stationed to read stories. Friends visited every site with great enthusiasm.

Then, we headed out for an indoor walkabout. We we ntto the auditorium (with a brief stop in the art room, to see what Sam and Jason were up to). The Middle Schoolers were onstage rehearsing, so we took our regular seats to listen to the music. Many friends had brought binoculars, so they had a very clear view of the performance. They sang beautifully, and most of the Catbirds were enthralled.

It was near lunch time, so we had a couple more stories (it was definitely a book reading kind of day), and some building, before getting ready for lunch.
