One-Two-Three-Four

Along with our journals, we worked on some new shape puzzles today. They were squares and circles and triangles and some were one piece, some were two or three or four. Friends wondered about the different shapes that made up the shapes.

Cooperative play also happened in a variety of ways: in music, animals,

and in meal preparation.

Mike came in to tune his guitar with a special program on Carol's phone. The sound waves go from red to green when the string hits the right note. Friends were excited to help Mike, and curious about how he changes the sound of the string.

We also had to refill the supplies in our first aid kit, so many of the Catbirds came to help. We read the items and numbers off of the list from Heidi the Nurse. Then, we figured out where the supplies were on the table and friends helped count them out.

Mike also came over and invited the Catbirds to come out and make music in the Commons with the Owls. Some friends grabbed instruments and went to join the fun.

We headed outside for a bit. We were surprised at how chilly it had gotten. We only had a little time to run and play before the rain started up and we had to head back inside.

Inside, we had our Moment of Silence. We tried it today holding hands!

Then, we tried closing our eyes and making pictures in our minds. Friends decided that they wanted to make a picture of a shark in their minds. When we were done, the friends who could do it made shark fins on their heads.

We read, I Lost My Hat, about a little fish who stole a hat from a big fish. Friends had widely divergent ideas about who was in the right and why, so an interesting discussion ensued. The ending left us wondering what happened to the little fish, so we took some time to guess (some were certain he was eaten).

At Choice Time, we opened up several centers: the water table, play dough and a collage project that a number of Catbirds were interested in working on. There was a lot of creativity, teamwork and fine motor skills in evidence. This took us right into lunchtime.
