Everything's Better with Friends

We began the day with Spanish class. Alicia came in and taught us some songs and words, like: Hola, Como estas?, Garcias and De nada.

We got to fly to Mexico, where all the people speak Spanish.

At the end, there was a cow who said, "Mooooo-chas gracias."

Then, we went back to our dramatic play and writing in our journals. some friends had very long stories to tell today. I was so happy to write them down, because I had been missing my friends.

Then, we had a Fire Drill! Luckily, we knew about it ahead of time, so friends were not too worried. In fact, we went around and found many of the alarms in the Lower School and talked about the sound they might make. Some friends were worried, but we were outside when it happened, so we could hardly hear it!

After, we stayed in the grove for a bit to have a Moment of Loudness AND a Moment of Silence. We also found some treasures - including leaves with fuzz on them.

Then we went back to the playground - it was too beautiful a day to go back inside. We read a new book on the grassy hill: Squeak, Rumble, WHOMP, WHOMP, WHOMP!, by Wynton Marsalis. As you can imagine, it is a book full of great sounds and sound effects.

We had to go in for some leaf repair...

then back out to use every square inch of our outdoor space.

Carol had to go and get her flu shot, and some friends volunteered to go with her, so that she would not be afraid. They gave her all kinds of good advice, and told her about their own experiences getting shots. They told her to keep her eyes open, to be brave, and to hold every one's hands. Nurse Heidi gave her a shiny band-aid and a sticker. Then she gave all of the helpers a sticker, too!

At lunch, we had a lot of talking to do. First, there was a complicated conversation about seating positions: with friends in the know explaining terms such as: "Between, next to and across from." Everyone had to figure out where they were in relation to everybody else. Then, we talked about our weekends and the fun things friends had done.
