A Box Filled with Light

Picture of the Day

The day began with stories and journals and the beginnings of a SECRET PROJECT!

Before we knew it, it was time to race off to Music Class with Jason.

First, we did our marching/clapping song. The Catbirds love to march around holding hands.

Next, Jason taught us a song that we are going to perform at the Winter Program (on December 21st). We caught on pretty fast and friends enjoyed the words and rhythm and gestures.

Because we were interested in the rhythm so much, Jason gave us all drums to play along. We noticed some differences in the drums, so we got to trade them around and Jason answered our questions. Before we knew it, it was time to sing our ending song and march out of the room.

When we got back, we worked on our journals some more, then had snack.

At Morning Meeting, we read a favorite story and then had our Moment of Silence.

Next, we got ready to go on an adventure. We talked about the Big Show coming up, and how we needed to figure out the secret way to get on to the stage. Friends were very excited, so we decided we needed a runaround first.

First, we chased Danielle, and then we chased Carol and then we chased each other. It was very fun.

We headed off to find the passage to the stage. When we got there, we discovered that there were other kids on the stage singing songs!

So, we decided to go around to the other side and listen for a few minutes.

We liked the bendy chairs.

When we came out, we had another meeting and talked about singing on the stage, and what people would do when we finished. One Catbird thought they would shout, "Ravo, Ravo!" and everyone was certain they would clap and maybe we would bow. Carol and Danielle thought we could try it, so they performed one of our songs for the Catbirds, and the Catbirds clapped. Then, the Catbirds got up and performed our new song (Fill the World with Happiness), and Carol and Danielle clapped and shouted, "Ravo! Ravo.

We headed back and went outside.

There were horses to ride.

And ice cream to sell (15 pounds for 1 cone!).

Balancing...

...and music.

Holes to dig...

...and stories to read.

During lunch, we discovered that one of our sinks was leaking. Some of the Catbirds helped supervise the repair.

Before nap, we continued to work on our SECRET PROJECT. It was so secret, that the Catbirds didn't even know what it would be.

However, they very much enjoyed helping to drill hole in the box.

After nap, they got to check out our new box.

The Light Box was a Big Hit, and the perfect way to end a wonderful, box-filled week!

Have a lovely, light-filled weekend!
