A Perfect Day

Today was a wonderful day. We had nothing scheduled, so the morning unwound according in a very natural way.

Friends had time to generate their own activities, and worked hard on how to do things together. We made up games...

...had a bunch of puppet shows...

...read Brown Bear, Brown Bear and finished hanging up our pictures and words (in Spanish and English!)...

We had a meeting about the sandbox and friends came up with a list of good ways to play in the sand.

Then they figured out, as a team, how to get the sand into the sandbox.

There was some some phenomenal building.

Artwork extraordinaire

We experimented with some printmaking

Took care of our beetles

Read lots of books

There were families formed

Pizza made

Guinea pigs cleaned

This is a large family attending the movies together

We brought Popcorn out to be held and petted, and the Catbirds demonstrated what loving and gentle friends they are.

Then we had a dance party with the Owls and the Cardinals!

At lunch, we had our first Friday Scary Story! This is a Catbird tradition, and there is a certain pattern to the stories with which you will undoubtedly become familiar. All stories begin with, "When I got home last night, it was dark, Dark, DARK!" (This is the part when all of the Catbirds reply, "BUM BUM BUUUUUUUMMMM!" Carol then has some problem with a silly monster at her house and is eventually rescued by the Catbirds. We then end with a dance party (both in the story and at lunch). After, almost every Catbird told their own story, and we laughed all through lunch.

Have a wonderful weekend!
