Friends began the day with a fast imaginative pace.
They were off to Washington D.C.!
Early on, we had Spanish class with Alicia, and we practiced the Spanish words for different animals.
We had Yoga today, and some Catbirds learned the Dragon pose.
Much building together today
And reading together
After friends had some time for free play, we checked the weather and decided to go out before it rained. But something very surprising happened while we put our rainboots and coats on: it started pouring!
Since we couldn't enjoy the rain outside, we traveled the Lower School in search of puddles. The school turned into an extravagant rainforest. Since we knew there were animals all around us, we had to be very quiet on our adventure. We even saw some snakes. And throughout our journey, the Catbirds jumped into enormous (pretend) puddles!
Due to this Puddle Walk excitement, no photographs were taken. You will have to use your imagination, and ask your Catbird about his or her experience.
When we headed back to the room, we had Morning Meeting and dove right into Choice Time.
There were Legos
And flubber
And counting blocks
The Catbirds were deeply engaged in every activity and interaction.

"It's a cave. You go in and out and it is very, very, very dark."

The counting blocks became measuring sticks.
"A train. It's carrying the animals. It's going to the zoo."
A few friends were working hard and long to make something incredible with the counting blocks.
A full circle as big as the table!
An overall excellent day in the Catbird room.
