Español con los Catbirds: revisión del vocabulario (vocabulary review)

¡Bienvenidos familia, amigas, y amigos de los Catbirds! Today we had our weekly experiencia en Español (Spanish experience)! During la clase, it was James’s turn to choose our destination. Following our usual morning salutations, James suggested we head to Paraguay.

After landing in this Spanish speaking country and settling in a círculo, los Catbirds sang some familiar songs to review some parts of our body:

Esta es mi cabeza – This is my head
Estos son mis pies – these are my feet.
Estos son mis ojos – These are my eyes,
Unos, dos, y tres – one, two and three.

Esta es mi cabeza – This is my head
Estos son mis pies – these are my feet.
Esta es mi nariz – This is my nose,
Unos, dos, y tres – one, two and three.

Esta es mi cabeza – This is my head
Estos son mis pies – these are my feet.
Estas son mis orejas - These are my ears,
Unos, dos, y tres – one, two and three.

With every verse, we used a different feature of our face. Afterwards, we sang the traditional “Head and Shoulders” song:

Cabeza y hombros
Cabeza, hombros, rodillas y dos pies
Cabeza, hombros, rodillas y dos pies
Ojos, oidos, boca y una nariz.
Cabeza, hombros, rodillas y dos pies

Following the songs and movement to review body parts, los Catbirds played an entertaining game of “Swatter Game.” To review last week’s vocabulary of traditional pets we used animal cards and los Catbirds swatted at the correct animal card that matched to the word that was called out. Everyone did an amazing job!

Concluding our game, we sang the traditional interactive song “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and we used sequencing cards to follow along with the song.

La araña pequeñita
La araña pequeñita subió, subió, subió.
Vino la lluvia y se la llevó.
Salió el sol y todo lo secó,
Y la araña pequeñita subió, subió, subió.

We finished our class with our traditional song, Adios, hasta luego, and James squeezing la vaca. ¡Gracias, James!

 ¡Hasta nuestro proximo viaje!

Paz,

Alicia
