Making Decisions

This morning was: Stories,

Puzzles,

Art,

Architecture,

More Puzzles,

and More Architecture.

The puzzle table is a popular spot - where most kids spend at least a little of their time each morning. We are working hard to keep up with the constant demand for new and more difficult puzzles. Today, we started one that was the United States - each state its own piece with a background. I was sure this would be a two-day puzzle, but friends finished it up during rest time!

One tower got so big, the hard hats had to come out...

...and then the Fire Chief!

We introduced fresh carrots today. Some friends wondered why they had dirt on them so we talked about how carrots grow, as we cleaned them off. Friends who wanted to, pretended to pull them out of the ground. The guinea pigs were quite happy to eat the green parts.

Then it was time for Music Class!

At Morning Meeting, we made plans for the rest of the morning. We had sent friends out for a Weather Check (This is a regular classroom routine, where we holler, "Weather Check!", and whoever wants to go runs outside to a designated spot - depending upon how cold or rainy it is - then runs back in to report on the weather and give their opinion as to whether we should go out and what we need to wear).
Today's Weather Check revealed that is was sprinkling, but not too cold, so the consensus was that friends could go out, but that they didn't have to go out. Other friends decided to stay in and set up for Choice Time, and everyone got to say what they would like to have available. The Catbirds are getting remarkably good at making decisions together.

So, some headed out...

...and some stayed in.

Then everyone came in.

To welcome our guinea pigs back to the classroom, we had some petting time.
