Off to a Great Start!

We started our day with friends signing in...

...and lots of exploring the room (some in fancy costumes!).

There were many toys to check out, as well as new friends to meet and play with.

Friends weighed and measured, on the scale and in the sandbox.

There was some climbing, jumping and dancing.

Then we sat down on the Morning Meeting Rug to learn a special song called, "I've Got a Friend."
It goes like this:
I've got a friend and his/her name is ______
___ never wears a frown
____ would you please stand up now
____ will you sit back down!

As each friend stands up, we learn their name, and then they make THE SILLIEST FACE THEY CAN!!!  Then everyone laughs hysterically.

Next, we went outside to practice being Catbirds. First, we sent all of the Catbirds flying away, then we called out, "CATBIRDS!!!" and they all came racing back. We did pretty good at flocking back together, which will be a very important skill as we adventure outward.

After exploring out in our play area, we decided to go on an adventure farther afield. We went back inside and practiced quiet walking, as we went to meet Tricia in the office and peak into all of the Lower School classrooms. Next, we stopped by the Art Room to meet Amanda, our Art Teacher, and then said hello to Roseanne, the Science teacher. We looked into the music rooms and named some of the instruments that we saw. Next week, we will meet Aedin, our Music teacher.

We found our favorite downhill part of the hallway, and rolled.

Then we went between the glass doors and pretended we were fish in an aquarium.

When we got out into the forest, we ran and searched for treasures. We found acorns and put them in our bucket. Friends took turns carrying it, as it got heavier and heavier.

We went to the other playground, and found even more acorns there (as well as some swings and climbers).

On our way back, we climbed a mountain.

And gave some hugs to old friends.

Inside, we read, "The Peace Book," and discovered that we were already doing many peaceful things.

We had lunch, and another story, then it was time for a short rest. Most Catbirds were too wound up to sleep, but we rested for a bit and then got up to do some puzzles and art. At the very end of the day, we noticed that the new climber was open, and we raced outside to test it out. It was a marvelous start to what is going to be an amazing year!
