A Great End to a Great Week!

Our builders were hard at work today, both inside and out.

Inspired by their parents efforts the night before (thanks for creating the beautiful alphabet!), the Catbirds decided to make letters of their own.

Surprising Amy.

Reading to friends.

Music in our classroom.

Aedin is using a variety of techniques to teach friends about pitch, volume and rhythm. Here, she throws a ladybug up in the air, and we sing low notes or high notes, depending how far up it goes.

We are also working on clapping to the beat of the songs that we sing.

Here, we are passing the ladybug around the circle - fast or slow, depending on the speed of the song.

Here's Carol, goofing up the rhythm.

After Music, it was time for a birthday celebration.

We sang, blew out a candle and then ate delicious cupcakes!

There were many colorful faces.

And great sugar happiness!

Time to run outdoors.

Morning Meeting.

The introduction of stencils.

Friends "reading" the Choice cards...learning letter sounds and decoding from illustrations.

SHAVING CREAM! Smells like:
"Syrup! Ice cream! Pizza! Soap!"
It is:
"Goopy, goofy, squishy!"
"I'm washing my hands!"
"It looks like mud!"
"It's poppy when you squeeze it!"

Stencils.

Writing out orders in the kitchen.

The rubber chicken.

After lunch, building in The Commons.

A great first week of school!
One of our Catbirds may have a new little sister, the next time we see him!
Enjoy your weekends!
