Building began early today.
As did measuring...
...and reading.
Friends are learning to use the hole punch, and put pages in their journals.
Some spontaneous window cleaning.
Jason came to visit, to tell us about our new music teacher.
Our first music class with Aedin. She demonstrated a tuning fork.
We each got a chance to listen.
We did a stand up, sit down dance.
Then created rhythms with the syllables of our names, and with shaker eggs.
(Did you know that there is a direct relationship between music and literacy?)
Aedin sprinkled some magic dust on a star, and we sang, passed it around, and made wishes.
We danced with scarves to some beautiful classical music.
After getting our boots on, we headed off to the creek.
It was HOT, so we stopped often for water.
We saw frogs jumping in, when they heard us coming.
In some places, the water was over our boots!
We looked for salamanders under the rocks.
We found some water striders.
Then, we noticed that the water flowed in different directions - some went left and some went right. We wondered about that.
We also saw that, in some places, the water was "bumpy."
And in other places, it was smooth. We tried to figure out why.
We practiced wobbling, without falling.

We stopped at the bleachers, to dump water out of our boots.
Over the bridge, we found this place.
We generated some theories about it:
"It's a kinda sorta house!"
"It looks like a pyramid!"
"Wreck It Ralph broke it."
"Nobody lives there."
"Ghosts live in there!"
On our way back, we stopped to examine a cicada.
After we got out of our wet clothes, we were hungry!
We ran on the rug, practicing moving fast without running into friends (this is not easy!).
After rest time, we read stories and played with playdough.
