Jumping for joy or away from monsters?

The Catbirds began their morning just horsing around. When the Catbirds came in this morning there was a new rocking horse (it used to be Carol's son's). Friends took turns rocking super fast and super slow! Each friend got two minutes to rock then the timer on the computer went off and they switched. Some friends enjoyed watching the timer count down and make a silly noise when time was up!

We then headed outside to enjoy the beautiful day. Some Catbirds leaped from bench to bench then onto the stage.

Danielle with the help of her friends put a little water and dish washing soap in our food processor and whipped it into a foam. Once we had enough foam for everyone we dumped it out onto the table for friends to play with. Friends enjoyed squishing the foam between their fingers while others drew pictures in it.

Friends also made some delicious desserts (chocolate pudding with a side of bacon) out of wood chips, sand and pond water.

We headed back inside for a Moment of Clicking noises, a Moment of Silence and Morning Meeting. Carol read us the book My Monster Mama Loves Me So. Luckily all the Catbirds agreed that they dont have monster Moms or Moms with three eyes.

We finished up our morning with a game of follow the leader. Our game began running through our Outdoor Classroom....

the Circle of Flowers...

around the trashcan...

around the tree...

touch the cone...

tap the signs...

roll on the ground...

and we finished by climbing on the wall and jumping off.

To finish our walk we went on a monster hunt. Friends thought they saw a monster in the sewer. Some friends were very nervous that friends may fall into the sewer if they put their hands on it. So the Catbirds discussed what they all thought would happen. Together friends decided that their bodies could not fit through the tiny hole so there was no reason to be afraid.

Needless to say there was no monsters in the sewer!

One friend listened to see if he could hear the growl of the monster, which lead us to a large rock.

Friends tried to use their muscles to lift the rock, but it was too heavy!

One friend looked in the bushes but still no monster.

Next, we checked the pool and decided that the monsters were most likely hiding under the pool cover.

We then took a break to relax (because hunting for a monster is a hard job).

We also found a house with blue windows. Friends agreed that this was the monster's house because it had blue windows!

Another friend even found a monster footprint! This gave us enough proof that monsters do live at Abington Friends, but don't worry, they are nice monsters! So with our job completed, we headed back to our classroom to gobble up our lunches like monsters would.
