Glue!

A rocking horse has appeared in our room. It once belonged to Carol's son, Lucas. When he was in third grade, his teacher, Felix, had a baby, so Lucas gave it to him. It was recently returned and was going to spend only a day in our room, but friends have grown quite enamored with it. The rocking horse is the subject of much turn-taking negotiations, as well as many moments of rocking bliss. So, we've decided that, for now, the horse has found it's new home.

This morning, there were lots of journal stories going on, as well as stories to be read in the book area.

Friends were also busy building animal houses on the platform.

Some friends took a trip down to the basement to find yarn. While Carol was cutting pieces, the Catbirds took advantage of the big space to race around.

Then, we gathered up our yarn and headed back to the room.

We used the string to decorate our Talking Stick (it is how we take turns speaking, when we are working out a problem). It looks pretty amazing now.

We headed down for Art Class. While we were waiting for Sam to pass out materials, we made group Funny Faces.

Today, everyone got a brand new bottle of glue, and we collaged with cardboard, on cardboard. We had to squeeze hard to get the glue out, and then used the pieces to decorate a big piece of board, that we are going to paint next time.

After a bit, Sam started adding new materials for us to put on - like wooden sticks and styrofoam and corks. Friends found all kinds of creative ways to layer and build with these.

After Art, we went on a Walkabout (part of which was a Rollabout).

We went into one of the "Aquariums" (the space between glass doors, and sang our aquarium song. We looked out and noticed the rain, but saw that it was not raining right outside the doors. We slithered out and stuck just our hands out in the rain - some friends tasted it. Then, we looked around for other places that were not getting rained on. We found a big one across the way and RACED over to it!

There, we played some running, hopping and wiggling games next to the ran (with occasional dashes over to get just a smidge wet).

We walked back through the Middle School, and gathered for Morning Meeting. We tried to hear the rain during our Moment of Silence, but mostly we heard the Cardinal class. Next, we read one of our favorite books, Oh No! We read it in a whisper, until we got to the last OH NO, which we yelled as loud as we could!

At Choice Time, we made things from play dough...

...sifted sand...

...and built tall buildings. Then it was already time for lunch!
