Bear Witness Heads Out into the World

Bear Witness

There were many new cars in the Catbird room this morning, which was quite a happiness to many of our wheel-loving friends.

After finishing their morning jobs, friends headed to their favorite activities.

There was book reading.

And taking care of the guinea pigs.

Then we headed over for our first library visit of the school year.

Michelle and the senior Catbirds taught the "Open-Shut Them" song.

She read us two Elephant and Piggy books and we laughed out loud.

We checked out books for our classroom and took them back to our shelves.

Finishing a challenging puzzle.

After snack, we had morning meeting and introduced Bear Witness. We also introduced the idea of bearing witness, starting with the simplest definition: To share experiences with others.

We explained that we would be taking Bear Witness on their first visit today - to Raji's kindergarten to witness their Community Care Contract. We will pick B.W. up in the morning and hear about what they saw and heard.

We also discussed the GIANT PUDDLE out on the playground and the Catbirds came up with some rules for playing in it.

Many friends got wet - but we had decided that that was okay.

Back in the room, we took a while to get changed into dry clothes and then it was lunchtime.

After lunch, we loaded Bear Witness into his wagon and wished our friend luck.

We drove BW down to the kindergarten.

Our Bear was greeted warmly and left to do the work of Witnessing.
