A Fantastic First Day!

Catbirds old and new began the day with much excitement, eager to explore the room and learn about each other.

They did a great at completing all of their morning jobs, with Senior Catbirds helping show new friends the where and how of all things Catbird.

There were many meals made, buildings built, animals roving and cars and trucks rolling about the classroom.

Super Seniors took on many of the jobs today, like delivering attendance sheets to Tricia in the office.

We did some math, reading and color matching as we counted out buckets and markers, wrote color names and sorted new markers.

Then, we had to draw with them!
Before snack, we gathered for a story and a silly song to help us learn names.

After a healthy snack and bathroom break, we gathered again to explain Choice Time. We sang another get up and dance song and then friends chose what they wanted to do and put their name cards next to their choices.

Trains were a popular choice.

So were duplos and cars.

Squigz were sorted and built with.

There were books to read.

Some friends had to head off to work.

After clean up, we headed outside.

It was quite hot, so friends found water and shady places to play.

Our first meal together was lovely and quite a few friends were ready for a nap.
All in all, it was a fantastic first day!
