Off On a Much-Needed Adventure

Morning activities.

Then off to assembly! We had, State My Name!, and then songs from some lower school students who are performing in a play, and the kindergarten class.

On the way back, we stopped to examine the miniature stage sets.

We also paused for a meeting in a sunny spot.

We had some more time to work on various projects in the room.

Including our last day of PomPom Plop.

Friends practiced both size and color sorting.

New forms of building.

We had snack (pretzels from the 3rd grade! and fruit), before we headed outside.

After all the Catbirds were bathroomed and bundled, we headed out on a long-overdue adventure - in search of dragons!

First, we were a very fast-moving train.

Next, we found a stash of unraked leaves to play in.

Nearby, a small mountain of unmelted snow to climb on.

Then, to the wall! After some balancing...

...Some spontaneous games of Red Light, Green Light began.

The end result of each round was a pile of giggling Catbirds.

Our first evidence of dragons - what we believed to be baby dragon footprints!

Dragon scales!

More footprints.

Dragon hole.

Catbirds thought this might be the baby dragon hatchery.

The entrance to the cave of a dragon named, Storm.

Another cave of a dragon named, Danger (both quite excellent dragon names, we thought).

An old dragon tooth.

Some rare dragon food.

Two contrasting types of dragon scales: clearly more than one species of dragon lurking about.

More evidence of fire breathing - a charred stick.

Then, the best discovery of all, DRAGON BIRTHDAY PARTY HATS! (Who knew?)

Back in the classroom, we read a new book, The Princess and the Dragon. Then, it was lunchtime.

After lunch, we upped the ante for the Pom Pom Plop one more time. Friends raced across the room with pom poms in chopsticks, and deposited them into the big red funnel.

At the end of a minute, each team counted up their score.

Next week, a new challenge!
