Searching for Creatures

This morning, we were off to Music with Jason!

After we had our starting up march and sing, we each sat down by a spot with four different kinds of instruments.

We sang a song that taught us to create different rhythms - faster, slower and matched to the beat of the music. We played with shakers, bells, sticks and drums, and we had to listen carefully to make the switches.

Then, we put our instruments away and headed over to the piano to practice our songs for the Spring Show. It has many verses, and we are really starting to learn them.

As we left, we each stopped to play the chimes.

We had a bit of time outside to run and play and sell ice cream cones.

We headed inside for Snack, then came right back out, because it was so beautiful outside.

We played some music, played some ball and played in the pond. We painted with water and played puppies and kittens.

Then we loaded up our wagon with books and binoculars and magnifying glasses and balls and other sundry toys, and went out to one of our favorite spots. We looked and listened and discovered: dragonflies, butterflies, ants, bees, robins and sparrows. We heard several birds singing during our Moment of Silence.

We read The Black Rabbit, about a bunny who is initially terrified of his shadow, and tries to get away from it. Then, we all tried to run away from our shadows - laughing all the way.

We continued to play with our shadows and each other, and to explore for creatures and read some books, until it was time to head back for lunch.
