Lots of rain makes lots of fun!

The Catbirds began their day in Music class with Jason. Friends were very excited to see that Jason had laid out scarves for use to go along with the music. Jason played the piano and sang a song about waving your scarf way up high and way down low and in circles.

After the song, we put the scarves away and met on the rug. We sang the Aikendrum; Friends think it is very funny that he has meatballs for eyes, his hair was made of spaghetti and his mouth was made of pizza!

The Catbirds ended Music with Jason playing piano along to a song Mason wrote. Friends gave them a standing round of applause because they were so good! As we left, friends were able to play a tune on the piano.

When we got back to our classroom, we kept with the music theme and had a dance party. The Catbirds are such great dancers that we took turns on the rug, so friends could show off their dance moves!

Once we were all danced out, we met for Morning Meeting and a Moment of Rain noises and a Moment of Silence. During Morning Meeting, friends talked about what noises they hear during thunderstorms. Danielle then showed the Catbirds the Rain Sticks they have in their classroom. Friends wondered what made the rain sound and guessed that it could be beans, rice, rocks or cockroaches. Friends thought it would not be kind if the rainstick had bugs in it. Danielle asked the Catbirds if they would like to make their own Rain Sticks. Friends thought it was a great idea and thought we should use rice instead of bugs! Durning Morning Meeting, friends noticed that it was not raining anymore, so we headed outside.

Our Outdoor Classroom was very muddy.  Friends built bridges out of blocks, so they could get through the mud without getting muddy.

Other friends pretended they were monsters and chased friends around!

The most exciting thing was that friends found a frog in the pond! Some of the Cardinals named the frog Hoppy. Friends made sure that no one got too close to him to make sure he was safe!

To finish up our day, Friends headed back inside for Choice Time. Friends were able to choose between making Rain Sticks, playing with play dough, Magnatiles, Sand Table and reading books.
