The Catbirds Take Flight!

Our first day was extremely busy, as we set off first to put the new, taller legs on our table. Some friends decided that, upside-down, it made a perfect stage. So, we had a dance party on it before turning  it back into a table.

Friends spent time checking out every corner and container in the classroom - finding lots of exciting things.

By far the most popular activity of the morning was greeting and feeding our classroom guinea pigs; Popcorn and Princess Froggy.

We also had numerous book readings - new stories and some old favorites.

Many of the Catbirds also enjoyed preparing elaborate meals in the dramatic play area, and taking care of our baby dolls.

We gathered together for our first Morning Meeting, and sang a song about our names (we also got to jump up and make silly faces while we sang our names). We sang a few more songs and talked about our plans for the rest of the morning. Then, it was time for snack.

We peeked out our door, and talked about the new outside place. Then, we decided to go out and explore.

There were lots of friends outside. We played in the water,

climbed on the stumps, and dug in the sand.

Then, we headed out on our first Big Adventure. We ran into Catalina (the Spanish teacher), and she taught us how to sing a song in Spanish!

We peaked into the auditorium...

...and found a big mask, that looks kind of like a monkey.

We found a room with a bunch of musical instruments, and decided we should come back again, when there are people there playing them.

We saw some art that we liked.

Then, we came to a door and tried to guess what was on the other side.

Suddenly, we were outside again. Since we weren't where the big kids were studying anymore, we put on our outside voices and made LOUD NOISES!

We stopped at the puddle tree, and discovered that it had some puddles in it today.

We got to go fast...

...and hold hands with friends.

We even got caught in a big net, and figured out how to escape.

We peeked in another window to a room filled with books.

Then friends tested their balance and jumping skills on the wall.

We went in between two glass doors and pretended we were fish in an aquarium. There were sharks, octopus's, starfish, and Nemo.

We were pretty tired when we got back.

We did some quieter activities, like puzzles and number games.

After we cleaned up, we read, The Gingerbread Boy, then sang goodbye to our half-day friend. Then, it was time for lunch. We really enjoyed eating together and talking. We read a few more books and rested on our new mats. Some friends fell asleep, and some stayed up drawing and playing quiet games together. Before we knew it, it was time for many friends to go home. It was a most excellent day.
