Light, Shadow and Concrete

We heard, early this morning from the workers outside, that a cement truck would be coming today. So, we went over to the library (conveniently located across the hall), and left a note for Gwen, asking her if she had any books about cement mixers. Not too long after, Gwen showed up with this book (which is backwards in the picture, but you get the idea).

We spent a lot of time watching out our window. The builders had an auger, and were drilling big holes in the dirt. We were cheering them on.

In between, we did our journals and all sorts of puzzles.

We also had some visitors - three 5th and 6th graders came to hang out with us for a bit, and write about us in THEIR journals.

When we went to see Tricia and report who was here and who wasn't, we decided to sing her two songs (since we are becoming such good singers).

At Morning Meeting, we had a good stretch...

...and our Moments of Silence.

Then we read our concrete mixer book.

After, we built a stage and worked with light and shadow.

We headed out on a walkabout, where we practiced screaming with excitement without making a sound.

We ran into some students playing instruments. Then we got out our invisible instruments and played along.

After lunch...THE CEMENT MIXER CAME!!! We watched out the window, but their wasn't enough room for us.

So we went outside to cheer them on.

Then, we decided to do a Cement Mixer song and dance (with drum accompaniment).

We asked the workers for some cement, so we could get a better idea of what it was. All of the Catbirds wrote their names on sticks and put them in the wet muck.

After nap, it was already hard! We can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.
