Flubber!

Our morning began with lots of stories, journals and more exploring.

Then, we cleaned up, packed up our snack and headed off on an adventure. We went to a brand new place downstairs, and ate our growing food at big tables.

At snack time, we are learning ways to share food together - passing napkins, pouring water and counting out our treats.

Afterwords, we went to check out the new space. We found Duplo blocks and started to build towers and houses.

We discovered vehicles and the space to run/drive them.

We also found some dinosaurs, who kept eating our towers!

Friends had fun with the small pool table. They were rolling the balls into the holes, and figuring out how to spin and bank them.

When we got back to the room, we had Morning Meeting, and showed friends some pictures of our Moment of Silence. We talked about what they looked like when they were being still, and then we relaxed our bodies.

After we read, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (which has a LOT of rhymes in it), we talked about our projects for today. We needed to work some more on our Big Canvas, and make Flubber. The Catbirds were eager to work on both.

Making Flubber is particularly fun. Friends get to measure and count ingredients, pour them in, chose colors and stir. Today, we decided to make green and red/pink.

We also painted Mod Podge over our canvas, so that our painting from yesterday doesn't get smeary.

After we finished, we played with the Flubber. If you've never experienced Flubber, I invite you to check it out. It is a wonderful sensory motor activity. It has a great consistency that allows friends to twist, bend, cut, stretch and mold, before it flows back into a smooth texture. Not only is it loads of fun, it is also an excellent way for friends to develop fine motor strength and coordination.
