Making New Friends

Today, after journaling, we played a new game - Animal Dominoes. Friends had to match the animal with their fur or scales, so it took some careful observation.

One of our friend's baby sister came to visit, and friends were intrigued. It sparked a whole conversation about babies and what they know.

Outside, Marty and Tim were back with some new equipment. We went out to meet with them and find out what the plan was for today. They were putting up new posts and making sure all the boards were up and straight.

Then, friends from the second grade came to read to us! We are planning to partner with the second graders on a variety of projects AND they will be coming in regularly to read to us and make things. The Catbirds were very excited to have them in our room.

After, we had snack and headed out for walkabout. We stopped near Heidi, the nurses office, to measure ourselves. We are getting taller and taller (and faster and smarter and stronger).

We ran into a new friend on our outing. She was part of a meeting we had in the hallway last week, and she checked in with us. We demonstrated our ability to scream without making a sound. She was duly impressed.

The Puddle Tree was covered in puddles today - we counted 5-ish.

Then, we ran.

We also discovered some bugs living on the Puddle Tree, and we practiced looking with our eyes, instead of touching with our hands (this is not easy).

Then we ran some more.

Back in our room, we worked on making our Play Structure plans, and discussing how we might play on them. The Catbirds are learning to cut and glue (important fine motor skills), as well as to think both two and three-dimensionally and to stretch their imaginations.
