A Most Excellent Adventure as We Find Our Way by Map

Some moments from yesterday afternoon

This morning's sign in time.

We continued to work on our self portraits.

Animals were running loose everywhere!

Color sorting.

On a bus.

We headed out on a most excellent adventure. Friends brought treasure maps they had made, and we used the maps  around the school to figure out where we were. We discovered superheroes in the hallway, and met an art teacher named Pete.

Suddenly, we found another map. Then we met Anu, whose students had made this map. We are interested in making maps, so we talked about getting together with her fifth graders and having them show us how they did it.

Checking our location.

We found our way to Rosanne's office, because we had a question for her. We wanted to know why there were some trees on campus with no numbers (what we labelled "mystery trees.)

Rosanne showed us the map of the campus and the edge of the tree labels. She explained that they were working toward having all of the trees tagged, but that it would take some time. She gave friends a copy of the map! (It seems like everybody shared our interest in maps.)

Next, we went to the Wilf Center, to say hello to one of the Catbird's dad.

On our way to the gym, we found ANOTHER map!

At the gym, Mr. C gave us some balls to take outside.

We had a great time at the soccer field.

On our way back, we checked out some scarecrows.

When we headed back inside, we had circle time and a special surprise. One of the Catbirds had memorized a poem about October, and he recited it for us.

We are thinking about learning it too!
