Sharing Thanksgiving

Our day began with library time. Catherine read us some great books.

Then it was time to pick out our own books.

Friends were excited to read and share their new books.

Back in the room, friends were fascinated by building cages and towers out of our crates.

Meals were prepared in the kitchen will a variety of doctors came by to eat.

Many Catbirds tried to figure out how to construct the best marble magnet track.

After walking trips through the school to pick up our ingredients and borrow the mixer from the Farmhouse. Then, with everybody carrying supplies we headed downstairs to get ready for our shared thanksgiving snack with the Cardinals and the Sparrows.

We readied to make fruit smoothies.

After some time to play with our EC friends, we sat down to eat together.

It was lovely to be together.

After breaking bread with everyone, it was clear that all of the classes wanted to spend some more time together. So we did.

After clean up, we gathered to share thanks. The Cardinals taught everyone a Thanksgiving song, and we sang it until everyone learned the words.

We gathered up our supplies and went back upstairs.

Then the Catbirds went back into their cages.

We cleaned up - a daily process that is often both exciting and challenging for the Catbirds. At these times, we work on planning, negotiating and a sense of community and shared responsibility. These times, while not the most glamorous, are important learning moments for all of us.

We gathered for a story, "Phoebe and the Digger." This book lead to a discussion both about meanness AND an excited conversation about ways that the Catbirds help the babies in their life feel happy.

We headed outside to burn off some of our delicious snack.

After lunch, we had another celebration - a birthday - and another treat.
What a delicious day!
