Catbirdland

Our morning reunion.

Charting our moods.

At our morning check in, we sat on our soon-to-be map canvas, and talked about the country we are creating. Then, the Catbirds smooshed all together to form the outline on our map. Thus, Catbirdland was formed!

Next, we decided our preferences for Choice Time.

We had some snack. This one turned into a 10.

These were moons.

Then we headed out to run and enjoy the sunshine.

Back inside for Morning Meeting. We worked together to create the physical features of our land. First, we brainstormed what different environments exist in the world. Friends came up with grass, trees, lakes, ponds, swamps, dessert, mountains and rivers. As friends excitedly added these to our map with the charcoal, new ideas emerged. Catbirdland now also has a live volcano and a dormant volcano with a cave in it. The last features added were a waterfall and a geyser. Tomorrow, we will paint our land and its features - using colors and shapes friends agreed symbolized each kind of environment. Friends spent much of the rest of the day excitedly thinking of additions like the types of animals who might live on our country, and how and where individuals want to live.

Choice Time.
