Catbird Land

Tomorrow will be our first ever "Workshop" session. The entire Lower School has chosen from a list of possible activities and, from 9:15 to 10:15, everyone will go to their chosen activity. Catbird friends chose from the following: Music Making, Running, Movie Making, Nature Walk and Casserole Making. They will be in groups with Lower School friends of all ages and it promises to be a good time!

Our early morning.

Spanish class. Today we learned about body parts.

And played one of our favorite learning games with the GIANT SWATTERS!

After snack and clean up, we had Morning Meeting. We had a story and discussed the rest of our busy day.

We headed out to run in the sun.

Then went to Art Class.

Amanda explained that we would each be making a model of ourselves out of clay. We will fire these and paint them and then use them on the giant map of our country. Oh, did I mention that we are creating our own country? More details to follow.

When we got back from Art, Stacy McAnulty, the visiting author, came to our room to read to us from her book. It was the first chapter of "The Dino Files."

Then she showed us some very cool dinosaur artifacts. The Catbirds got to show off some of their dinosaur knowledge.

Next, we took a vote about whether friends wanted to go outside or stay in and have Choice Time. We were pretty equally divided, so we decided to have our first "Inside-Outside" Choice Time. Basically, this means we open the garden door and friends can be in or out. We used some of this time to work on our garden.

Rasheeda, the science teacher, had given us supplies to make natural, non-toxic herbicide.

We mixed up salt and vinegar and dish soap, and put it in spray bottles.

Friends took turns spraying the prickly weeds that are growing outside.

After lunch, we had book and rest time. Lots of friends took a well-earned nap.
