Enough and Too Much

Morning sign-in, check in, greet friends and family.

Abbey, our student teacher, dropped by to say her final goodbye to us, and was officially hug-attacked.

Then we had art class. Amanda explained that our clay houses had been fired in the kiln, and we noticed how different they were. She explained some things about glaze to us - that it goes on like paint, but that it will change colors in the kiln.

She showed us how to put it on, using a dabbing motion.

We choose our color and glazed away.

Right after art, we went to practice the song we will be sing at assembly tomorrow.

After all of that hard work, we headed outside. Carol slipped on her fake teeth, again. They have a mesmerizing effect on the Catbirds.

It was really warm out today, so we had snack outdoors.

There was some very complex dramatic play going on. Here we see both good guys and bad guys stopping off to buy some candy canes at the store.

The store did a hearty business, despite their pricey candy canes ($3.00 apiece!)

Morning Meeting. We sat on our boxes today.

We read a new book, called More, which uses words to describe progressive amounts (i.e. some, several, many, enough, too much). We had an interesting conversation about the meaning of "enough" and "too much." Some of the Catbirds related these words to food and eating, and others noticed all of the "stuff" in the illustrations. These are subtle bits of vocabulary, having no concrete measurements attached to them, so it is interesting to figure out how friends understand them.

For choice Time, we had hammer art,

and Geoboards.

Games with Heidi.

There were puppies everywhere again, in dramatic play.

Building with geometric shapes.

We continued our work connecting letters.
Friends also read books, and we took a trip to the tool room, to cut the rough edges off of our magic wands.

Right before rest and read aloud, some friends held a dance class.
