Banana Bread

Our morning project was making banana bread with our fourth grade partners - some for us and some for Face to Face in Germantown to serve for Thanksgiving dinner.

We had three full tables going simultaneously - banana mashing, egg breaking, vanilla measuring and flour scooping!

The best part was adding the chocolate chips...and then eating a few ourselves.

One loaf for each class, and four loaves for Face to Face!

After some healthy snack, we headed outside.

There was building, balancing and baking going on.

Back inside for morning meeting, we practiced our Thanksgiving song that we will sing during tomorrow's Meeting for Worship (all families are welcome to attend with us, it will be our first trip to the meetinghouse).

We had a Thanksgiving story about gratitude.

Then it was Choice Time. Many friends enjoyed color mixing with shaving cream and watercolors.

Others worked on their Thankfulness Turkeys (Turkeys of Gratitude?)

After lunch, we started work on a new way to learn letter sounds and names - coupling the sounds with memorable motions. For example, for "B" we pretend to bounce a ball while saying the "bah, bah, bah" sound. once these phonetics are in place, we can use them to sound out words.
