Terrifically Inquisitive Tuesday...

The Catbirds came back from the long weekend full of inquisitive energy and ready to engage with everything we had scheduled in our exciting, busy day!
We started with some productive Choice Time...

At Morning Meeting, we had a visitor from A Step Up Academy, Lauren, who came to talk to us about our visits with our friends from Step Up. She read us a book, and answered questions the Catbirds had about our visits, and how we can be kind friends as we learn about exploring and playing with friends who learn and interact with the world differently from ourselves.

The excitement continued with a visit from Rasheeda for another Catbird "Adventures in Science!!!"

She had heard about the diverse topography of Catbirdland, and came to help us investigate one of our land features: the volcano.

She brought with her several different combinations of materials for us to try in small test tubes, baking soda + vinegar, baking soda + dish soap + vinegar, and alka seltzer + vinegar. Each expected to create a volcano-like explosion. Rasheeda first asked the class to predict which combination of materials would result in the biggest explosive reaction...

Then, in small groups, the Catbirds performed the experiment to discover if their predictions were correct!

Once we had determined which version of the experiment produced the biggest explosion (baking soda + vinegar), Rasheeda used our findings to make an ENORMOUS volcano explosion!

Our outside time was full of friends trying new games and new physical challenges with one another! A lot of running, music making, building, and climbing!

Coming back inside, the class was ready to sit for a funny story before lunch.

And the morning ended with lunch, where our inquisitive minds continued to question our world as we inspected an avocado seed with unusual coloring...
