Building Bridges

Morning sign in time.

Friends checked out our new laminated map of Catbirdland, that allows us to draw our animals, houses and ideas right on it.

Some Catbirds discovered how to reflect lights onto the ceiling, and were exploring where it was coming from and how to control it.

The preschool friends from A Step Up Academy came over to spend some time with us outdoors. This was the second of our weekly visits back and forth and we are gradually learning about one another.

We had a dance party together.

And shared some drums.

Back inside, we reviewed how to tell whether books were classroom owned or library books, and everyone picked one out to take back.

Then we headed to the library.

Doris read us two books about snow - in a hopeful way.

Back in the room, we set up Choice Time. We made some of our own, "Instant Snow," and moved it about with tiny trucks.

There was some more book reading and playdough.

Some chairs came to life.

We also had a meeting of the Wookie Committee, to see about approving them for entry into Catbirdland. However, while everyone wanted them there, there were several roadblocks to final approval. First, it was unclear just what kind of "meat" they eat and our expert couldn't tell us. We were fully prepared to plant grapes and buy cows to fulfill their raisin and milk requirements, but the committee decided that we needed to know exactly what kind of animals wookies eat.
In addition, there was a long discussion about just how we would get them here from their own planet. One of our committee members had an idea for an interplanetary bridge. He agreed to draw it up and present it to the committee at our next meeting.

After Choice Time, we headed back outside, because it was just too nice out to miss it.

Some afternoon table activities.

The plan for the interplanetary bridge, which will reportedly, "cost us nothing." At least it's a bridge and not a wall.
