Avalanche

Our morning builds.

Time outside in the sunshine.

There were big sheets of snow and ice sliding off of the building as they melted in the sunshine. We closed off that part of the playground, and friends got front row seats to observe the "avalanches!"

Then we hung the tent outside, and friends opened up shop.

Morning Meeting, we read our Book of the Week.

The Catbirds began their book reviews - first with a rating, and then an explanation of why they liked or didn't like it.

Next, we had a watercolor demonstration, examining the different ways the paint behaves, depending upon the kind of paper and whether it is wet or dry. Then it was Choice Time!

Climbing Snow Mountains

Some challenges for our morning.

After snack, we put on our warm clothes and headed out.

After we found a gate out, we headed off on an adventure.

We discovered some vast tundra.

We made some superficial snow angels.

Then we found mountains to climb.

Then we discovered trees to climb.

We also got lots of mail from our second grade buddies, so we began to work on writing and sending drawings back.

The teachers who led our Morning Meeting didn't look like themselves. Here we see Danielle, Carol, Christina and Carolina.

Reading this weeks book, The Skunk. Friends noticed different elements of the story this time through, and also began to compare it to our last Books of the Week.

Choice Time.
