Sound Machine

This morning, friends were intrigued by the materials in the room, and started to figure out different ways to assemble them.

We had our morning crab and starfish measurement.

Then it was off to Spanish, where we continue to learn parts of the body.

Then we moved our Sound Machine building supplies outside, and got ready with our safety goggles.

We had some snack to get ready.

Then it was time to build!

Uncle Kevin brought his building expertise (he builds interactive displays for museums).

Not sure what this is a picture of, but it does demonstrate that this Catbird still has most of her fingers.

When friends weren't building, they had time for running and playing.

After we got our wood cut, it was time for drilling, gluing and screwing it together.

Some pieces required the power saw.

We had a wonderful break from our hard work, when Walter (a friend from the meetinghouse), came by to play the violin for us.

He taught us that the notes of the strings were seperated by 5 notes, or fifths, and we helped him count them out.

He also showed us how the violin laughs, and some friends got to go and tickle it.

He played for us while we did some contra dancing.

He also made the violin cry. It was great to listen to him play.
We finished the skeleton of our Sound Machine. Tomorrow we begin to add the sounds!
