New Patterns and Secret Projects

Friends greeted each other happily today.

Then went right into their morning routines.

Puzzles have become a central part of each day, as friends learn increasingly complex skills to assemble ever-more complicated puzzles.

There was a lot of construction today - much of it in novel forms.

And a secret project to make a special card for someone's birthday.

We had new materials on our light table and friends were eager to experiment with colors and patterns.

Food was prepared in the kitchen.

Of note: We had an interesting conversation at lunchtime about hair. It began as a game of twenty questions (or The Reporter Game, as one Catbird dubbed it), about which princess I had seen in Disney. Since many questions revolved around hair, we started talking about long hair and short hair. I showed the Catbirds a picture of a friend of mine, who has dreadlocks down to her thighs, and we talked about the different kinds of long hair. As hair is a fascination with many friends, I imagine that this conversation will continue.

At rest time, we read a now favorite Dr. Seuss story (What Was I Scared of?), and then, Is Your Mama a Llama, which gives clues - including rhyming words - to figure out what animal they were talking about.

After resting, some friends rolled to the auditorium to check on the dragon. It is done and looks amazing! (You will see it if you attend Shrek, the Musical, being put on by the middle school on Thursday and Friday).
