Español con los Catbirds

¡Bienvenidos familia, amigas, y amigos! During la clase de Español, it was Anthony’s turn to choose our destination to a Spanish speaking country. After our traditional morning greeting, he suggested we head to a country where the leading sport is soccer, Uruguay.

Shorty after our flight arrived, we settled in and gathered in a círculo and began our Spanish language experience.

Reinforcing vocabulary words:
buenos dia – good day
¿Cómo estás?  - How are you?
¡Muy bien, gracias! - Very well, thank you!
¿Dónde vamos hoy? – Where are we going today?
¡Por favor, cuidado con los pajaros! – Please, careful with the birds!
levantence - stand-up
carro - car
bote - boat
 motocicleta - motorcycle
avión– airplane
alas – wings
 sientencen - sit
círculo - circle
muéstrame - show me

To review the Spanish vocabulary for basic geometric shapes, we first played a round of the "Swatter Game". Following the game, we sang “Head and Shoulders” in Spanish. Using the stage created by los Catbirds, everyone sang and danced to this traditional song. It was really amazing to hear the Catbirds singing the song without the teacher’s voice. Truly remarkable!

Vocabulary reviewed:
Cabeza y hombros - Head and Shoulders
cabeza - head
hombros - shoulders
rodillas - knees
dos pies – two feet
 Ojos - eyes
oidos - ears
boca - mouth
 nariz - nose

Following the action song and before squeezing la vaca, we rehearsed the salsa dance moves with a partner

We finished our class with our traditional song, Adios, hasta luego, and Anthony squeezing la vaca. ¡Gracias, Anthony!

 ¡Hasta nuestro proximo viaje!

Paz,

Alicia
