How To Work Together

We welcomed a visitor this morning. She had snack with us and then we headed to music class.

We helped to compose the instruments for "We're Going on a Lion Hunt," then we played it through.

We did the pony song and sang goodbye.

After some time outside, we gathered with some puppet friends to pair up for a cooperative activity.

We paired friends with Catbirds that they don't generally spend a lot of time with and asked them to pick the materials they wanted to use to make something together (Playdough, Paper markers and glue, Mini blocks, Big wooden blocks and Magnatiles.

Next, they had to talk together and decide what they were going to build.

With support from their teachers, friends negotiated how to go about these tasks.

The "how-to" discussions were sometimes difficult, as was the whole idea of what it means to do a task together. These are new, and complex social skills.

Friends often needed reminders to check in with their partners, but most were able to talk through stuck places with support.

When they were finished, we took pictures of their work together.
