A Visiting Musician and Banana Bread!

We had our own meeting for worship in the classroom today. The Catbirds are learning to quiet their bodies and still themselves for short periods of time. We are working to have more self awareness by focusing on how we sit and what goes on with us when we are still. Today, we lit a small candle to give us a focus point, and set out a 3 minute sand timer.

After our silence, friends noticed who was absent, and we sent some love to our friends that weren't here today. Friends started to talk about other people who weren't here that they love, so we sent love to many family members. Then, a Catbird pointed out that we could also send love to the earth and the plants and the animals, so we did. Then we sang, "I've Got Peace Like A River."
All in all, a very lovely meeting for worship.

Then we began our banana bread making project. The Catbirds love to cook! Friends took turns mashing bananas, breaking eggs, adding ingredients and stirring.

Partway through, our friend Franklin came with his cello. He taught us all about it.

We sang some songs together.

He taught us new words, like forte (loud, strong) and piano (soft, quiet). We got to play a game where we stood up when the music was forte and sat down when it was piano.

He played some beautiful music, and then let the Catbirds check out the cello.

After, we finished making our banana bread and put it in the oven.

Then we headed outside.

The finished product. It was delicious!
