Our First Big Adventure of the Year!

After our morning rituals...

...we headed off to music class with Aedin.

We are learning a lot about rhythm as we sing, move and play instruments.

When we get a turn, we put our Catbird in the tree.

Back to the room for Morning Meeting and to prep for our adventure.

Carol showed friends where we were going, and the older Catbirds explained the ways that we stay safe when are out and about. We went over the buddy system, stops along the way, road crossing and many other parts of adventuring.

New Catbirds had great questions and veteran Catbirds did a great job of explaining.

We loaded up the wagon.

Some friends noticed that the ice in their water bottles had disappeared.

We took our favorite route through the big kids' playground.

We stopped at the Puddle Tree, and friends found some daddy-log-legs.

Friends stopped to check on their own trees.

It was important to get the right adventure sticks.

We also stopped in at our favorite tree climbing place.

Then it was time to find buddies, for crossing the road.

Some friends learned the, "Don't Run Your Buddy Into a Tree" song.

Finally, we arrived at the big hill, and it was time to run!

And roll.

With breaks for snack on the stage.

The house was a popular spot.

We checked out the map and the bridge.

This is the way to the Magic Forest (but that's another trip).

A complex game of family and pets emerged.

The reading of an invisible book.

We had a meeting before heading back, to talk about the experience. Everyone LOVED our first adventure, and we discussed plans for future trips.

Then it was time to get the wagon up the hill. Thank goodness for teamwork.

Back at the special stripe spot, we buddied up again.

We reversed our stops.
